On this day in 1942, the Transportation Corps was established.
The United States entry into World War II demanded experts that could handle the unprecedented magnitude of transportation demands.
Prior to the new corps, the Army’s Quartermaster Corps and Corps of Engineers handled the transportation of Army material and Soldiers.
